1. Where it began: Joomla & Open Source
Our story started with Joomla!, an open-source content management system that gave us the freedom to build and customise websites without starting from scratch.
It was never just about building websites. It was about understanding how they worked, discovering what could be achieved, and finding better ways to manage and present content. The open-source philosophy – share, improve, extend – quickly became central to what we do.
2. The K2 Years: Building, Developing & Sharing
As our work with Joomla! grew, we became deeply invovled with K2, the powerful content extension that expanded Joomla!’s capabilities.
We developed K2 templates and extensions, helping site owners make more of the software and giving developers practical examples they could build upon.
Simon Says: Share the knowledge
We created Simon Says as a demo site, with documentation, and it was soon adopted as the official K2 documentation by the developers, Joomlaworks.

3. More than websites: being part of the community
Our involvement was never limited to writing code or publishing tutorials.
We contributed technical help, supported other users and developers, and took part in community events, including giving talks and sharing practical experience with others working in the Joomla! ecosystem.
Open-source communities depend on people who are willing to contribute their time and knowledge. Sometimes that means developing an extension. Sometimes it means answering a question, documenting a solution or helping someone overcome a problem that has held up their project.
We valued that collaborative spirit, and it continues to influence how we approach our work today.

4. Putting experience to good use
Not every worthwhile website project is a commercial one.
Over the years, we have used our experience to help community initiatives and charitable causes establish and maintain an online presence. This has included providing websites and support to projects such as Share the Warmth.
These projects matter because a well-built website can help an organisation explain what it does, reach the people who need its services and make it easier for others to get involved.
Worthing Rotary Carnival
For two years we created, hosted and managed the Worthing Rotary Carnival website and designed all the event artwork and managed their social platforms.
The project was about more than putting pages online. It provided a central place to share information and promote an important, historic, local community event, helping organisers communicate with the public and support the carnival’s online presence.
- Practical solutions: build websites around real needs, rather than unnecessary complexity
- Open and accessible thinking: make sensible use of established tools and technologies
- Sharing knowledge: help clients understand their websites and manage them with confidence
- Personal support: provide a straightforward service that people can approach without needing to become technical experts
- Practical responsibility: something we provide to our work with all our clients.
Today, K2Joom focuses on helping small businesses, start-ups, independent traders, crafters and community organisations establish a professional online presence without the cost and complexity that can put them off.
We provide website design, hosting and ongoing support with an emphasis on clear costs, sensible solutions and a personal approach.
Our services may have changed, but the motivation behind them remains the same: use technology to solve problems and help people achieve more.
